The 91视频 Center for Energy and Power will host one of the world鈥檚 foremost lighting design and efficiency experts, Nancy Clanton, on Thursday, April 6, from 1-2 p.m. for a virtual seminar.

Clanton鈥檚 talk, titled 鈥淨uality Lighting鈥 with Minimal Environmental and Energy Impacts and Benefit to Health and Wellness,鈥 will address opportunities for outdoor lighting retrofits, including cutting-edge research to reduce the biological impacts of light at night on humans and animals. In addition, she will discuss next-generation lighting technologies and control systems, as well as how appropriate indoor lighting can greatly improve productivity, including for the classroom of the future.  

Clanton has been practicing lighting design since the 1970s and is considered to be a pioneer in the field of sustainable lighting design. She has won numerous awards for her work, including the Edison Award for Best Outdoor Lighting Design. 

Clanton has worked on energy efficiency retrofits for the White House, the Pentagon and the Empire State Building in her career. She is the CEO of Visibility Innovations LLC, a consulting firm specializing in sustainable and regenerative design. She is a registered professional engineer and a member of the National Academy of Sciences committee on the assessment of solid-state lighting.
