ACEP Summer Interns Present Their Research at Texas Power and Energy Conference
March 3, 2023
ACEP Railbelt decarbonization team members Alexis Francisco and Leif Bredeson gave presentations at the Feb. 13-15.
Francisco is a UAF electrical engineering senior and Bredeson is an electrical engineering junior at South Dakota State University. Both participated in the program this past summer. As AUSI interns, they worked on the Railbelt decarbonization project under the guidance of ACEP鈥檚 Phylicia Cicilio and have continued to contribute to the project.
Francisco presented a poster titled 鈥淯tility and Residential Solar Resource Assessment and Modeling for 91视频鈥檚 Railbelt Transmission System.鈥 Bredeson presented a poster titled 鈥淗ydropower and Pumped Storage Hydro Power Resource Assessment for 91视频鈥檚 Railbelt Transmission System.鈥
Francisco found TPEC to be an 鈥extremely valuable experience鈥 to learn about current advancements in the power industry. It was also an excellent opportunity for her to 鈥渘etwork and connect with both students and veterans of the power industry.鈥
鈥淚t was great to be able to share with the broader research community the work we contributed to the project,鈥 Bredeson said. TPEC gave him a great opportunity not only to share his own work but also to gain from immersing himself in the power and energy systems research community.
