ACEP Hosts the Hawai’I Natural Energy Initiative, November 4th & 5th

Dr. Richard Rocheleau, HNEI director, and Mr. Leon Roose, Specialist, will provide an introduction to the vision, resources and active programs at the Hawai’i Natural Energy Institute.  HNEI is an organized research unit within the School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST) at the University of Hawai‘i / Mānoa (UHM). The Institute performs research, conducts testing and evaluation, and manages public-private partnerships across a broad range of renewable and enabling technologies to reduce the State of Hawai‘i's dependence on fossil fuel.  HNEI’s experience base and capabilities span a wide range of topics, including Biomass, Energy Efficiency, Energy Storage, Fuel Cells, Grid Systems, Hydrogen, Ocean Resources, Photovoltaics, and Transportation.

There are many possible engagement opportunities resulting from the islanded energy systems and environmental uniqueness present within both the 49th and 50th states, and ACEP is eager to explore possible scientific research, technology development, educational, and business synergies between our regions and the organizations within them.  A public talk will be given by HNEI on November 4th from 1:00 – 2:00 pm in Duckering Room #531.
