A Message from the AHERC Director
AHERC Director Jeremy Kasper would like to thank the staff of AHERC, Affiliate Faculty and former AHERC Director Jerome Johnson for their work in advancing AHERC to the forefront of the emerging river energy research field. In recognition of AHERC's success, AHERC was asked to join the University of Washington and Oregon State University as a partner in the Northwest National Marine Renewable Energy Center (nnmrec.oregonstate.edu/ and depts.washington.edu/nnmrec/). With the inclusion of UAF, the NNMREC strategic partnership now includes the three Pacific Northwest coastal states. Research conducted by NNMREC covers a broad range of marine energy technologies including wave, tidal and with the addition of AHERC, river energy as well. In expanding NNMREC to include UAF, NNMREC gains expertise in a niche technology area, river energy, and UAF gains by fostering close ties with leading researchers and students at the NNMREC partner Universities.
