GEK Training in Mat Su Valley
Last week Daisy Huang traveled to the Mat Su Valley just outside of Anchorage to meet with the inventors and designers of the GEK biomass gasifier. The meeting took place at the Matanuska Experiment Farm and showcased the device which generates AC electricity from a variety of biomass types. The technology has been used recently in Africa using palm nut shells and in California using walnut shells. A similar unit has been in operation at Chena Hot Springs Resort as a demonstration project since 2010.
This event was organized and paid for the UAF Cooperative Extension Service.
