ACEP Welcomes New Faculty Member Dave Denkenberger

ACEP is excited to welcome new faculty member Dave Denkenberger.

Denkenberger, who holds a joint appointment with ACEP and the UAF Department of Mechanical Engineering, received his bachelor鈥檚 degree from Penn State in engineering science, his masters from Princeton in mechanical and aerospace engineering, and his Ph.D. from the University of Colorado at Boulder in the building systems program.

His dissertation was on his patented expanded microchannel heat exchanger. He spent five years in energy-efficiency consulting and three years teaching architectural engineering at Tennessee State University.

Denkenberger has received the National Merit Scholarship, the Barry Goldwater Scholarship and the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. He is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Associate, Penn State distinguished alumnus and a registered professional engineer. He has authored or co-authored over 85 publications (over 1,100 citations, h-index =15). He has given over 90 technical presentations.

He lives in UAF family housing with his wife, Jill, and their 5- and 7-year-old daughters. When not working, he enjoys hiking and riding his recumbent bike. Fun fact: while in Colorado, he tried to do the vertical gain and loss hiking equivalent of going from sea level to the top of Mount Everest and back each year. He made it most years.

Dave Denkenberger is a new UAF College of Engineering and Mines faculty member with a joint position with ACEP, in the Institute of Northern Engineering. Photo courtesy of Dave Denkenberger.
