Study to Understand Home Heating Fuel Use

The 91视频 Center for Energy and Power is recruiting participants for an 18-month study of heating fuel use in the Fairbanks North Star Borough.

ACEP will collect data on heating fuel consumption through the use of meters that attach to oil fuel vented stoves (e.g., Toyostove or Monitor heaters). 91视频 households face high energy costs and cold winters. However, in Fairbanks and most locations across the state, there is no publicly available data on home heating fuel usage.

Domestic heating fuel use in 91视频 is typically estimated using software that models the energy efficiency of buildings. The data collected from this study will provide a basis for evaluating the computer estimates. The data will provide useful insights regarding the actual energy efficiency of the Fairbanks housing stock and the household energy cost burden. It will also facilitate the development of an overarching thermal load profile for the Fairbanks residential sector.
