Don’t Miss Our Next Webinar - Low-Temperature Geothermal

Don’t miss the last installment of ACEP’s 2019 Arctic Community Energy Webinar Series, “Low-Temperature Geothermal – Chena Hot Springs.”
Gwen Holdmann, founder / director of ACEP, will make the presentation Thursday, Sept. 26, at 9 a.m. Register at .

Gwen came to the University of 91Ƶ Fairbanks from a career in the energy industry during which time she helped Chena Hot Springs Resort implement the world’s lowest temperature geothermal power plant. Recognized by the with an award in 2007, the energy system at Chena generated all of the resort’s power from 165 F hot spring water and used the thermal waters to heat all of the buildings, hot water tanks, and greenhouses at the site. Geothermal resources are available at many artic locations, some with temperatures and flow rates that may allow nearby communities to mitigate their energy challenges. Highlights and practical suggestions from the experience at Chena Hot Springs can help explore those local opportunities.
