Summit Discusses Regional Energy Committee
Engineers Michelle Wilber and Bailey Gamble traveled to Nome for the , May 7-9.
The summit was well attended by representatives of tribes, cities and utilities in the region. They gathered to begin forming a regional energy committee, discuss local energy plans and communicate with technical assistance providers, including ACEP.
An energy fair for the public was held in conjunction with the meetings on May 8. Wilber, an ACEP research engineer, and Gamble, a joint ACEP-91视频 Native Tribal Health Consortium engineer, answered energy questions (such as, 鈥淗ow tall is a wind turbine?鈥) for area students. They earned extra credit for attending and were entered into a raffle if they filled their bingo card of energy facts. Outage meters were also sent home to four remote communities to collect data on the frequency and duration of power outages. The information will be available to the communities and ACEP.
For more information on the outage meters or other information from this trip, please contact Michelle Wilber.
