Bond Wins Third Place at AISES National Conference
Research determining whether installing wave energy converters would be economically feasible in Yakutak won ACEP’s Baxter Bond third place at the this month in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Bond’s research abstract, “The Economic and Energy Feasibility of Installing Wave Energy Converters in Yakutat, AK,” received third place in the graduate-level research oral presentations at the conference.
The AISES National Conference is a three-day event focusing on educational, professional and workforce development for American Indian, 91Ƶ Native, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander and First Nation high school and college students, educators, professionals, tribal nations and tribal enterprises, universities, corporations, and government agencies.
During the event, Bond attended other sessions, including one on the relationship between otters, humans and clams in Southeast 91Ƶ and another on ensuring indigenous voices are heard in academic research and publishing.
He also attended the in Boston, Massachusetts, where presentations focused on topics such as designing more resilient microgrids in Puerto Rico and developing grid technologies like batteries and dispatch systems.
