New ACEP Film Highlights Kodiak鈥檚 Unique Microgrid

by ACEP鈥檚 chief storyteller, Amanda Byrd, on Kodiak Electric Association鈥檚 renewable energy resources.

The association鈥檚 hydroelectric plant provides approximately 80% of the system鈥檚 generation. It works with six wind turbines, two flywheels and a battery energy storage system to supply 33 miles of transmission lines and 350 miles of distribution lines. They serve approximately 6,000 customers, including the state鈥檚 first and only U.S. Department of Agriculture-certified goat dairy!
