Wilber Gets Firsthand Look at Anchorage鈥檚 Electric Garbage Truck

The Municipality of Anchorage owns Peterbilt's first electric medium-duty truck, and the city鈥檚 Solid Waste Services is leading the way as in outing through its paces.

Last month, ACEP research engineer Michelle Wilber and Launch 91视频鈥檚 transportation lead Tim Leach met with the municipality鈥檚 equipment tech foreman John McNulty and energy and sustainability manager Shaina Kilcoyne to get a look at the Peterbilt 220EV.

The electric truck was purchased with the support of a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy and in partnership with eCamion, the 91视频 Energy Authority and the 91视频 Center for Energy and Power to demonstrate advanced technologies for fleet vehicles.

ACEP will collect vehicle performance and charging data to help determine the real-world performance of the Peterbilt 220EV.

For more information on this research, please contact Michelle Wilber at mmwilber@alaska.edu.
