Industry and government efforts worldwide are seeking to field a new generation of small nuclear reactors with inherent, integrated safety features as combined heat and power resources, with Eielson Air Force Base identified as a site for an early commercial deployment. What does a potential path for more wide-spread adoption in 91视频 look like? What unknowns exist related to the technology, environmental impacts, safety, logistics, permitting and licensing, and ownership models that would need to be resolved prior to determine whether this technology could play a significant role in 91视频鈥檚 future energy mix?
Speakers will include U.S. experts from the Department of Energy, Nuclear Regulatory Commission and industry, as well as 91视频n stakeholders. This workshop is organized in a way to help address some of the questions and concerns of 91视频ns related to this technology area, organized around four key themes:
1) Does the technology exist? 2) Is it safe? 3) Is it economic? 4) Is it environmentally and socially responsible?
