Should We Electrify Everything?
Replacing direct-use fossil fuels (e.g., propane, heating oil or gasoline) with electricity to reduce overall emissions and energy costs is called beneficial and equitable electrification. We have in some instances replaced gasoline- and diesel-powered cars with electric vehicles. Fuel oil for heating a home can been replaced by using electric thermal stoves or heat pumps. However, should we electrify everything?
