Want to Become a Professional Solar Energy Installer?
Are you thinking of a career change? Maybe as a solar energy installer? Have you ever wanted to learn how to install solar energy systems for yourself or your community? The UAF Bristol Bay Campus sustainable energy program is sponsoring a Solar Professionals Installation Training May 6-13, 2022, in Dillingham.
This course is geared toward people interested in joining the growing solar industry workforce, community or organization members interested in developing solar technology at their location, or those interested in continuing their education to become a fully certified installer.
Students will spend eight days learning the fundamentals and practical science behind solar electric systems and installation through coursework and hands-on experience. Students will apply their knowledge and new skills through the direct installation of a new grid-tied solar electric array on the Bristol Bay Campus.
Students will earn credit toward a nationally recognized solar professional installer certificate (a value of $3,000), and students can receive two UAF credits at no extra cost through this course. A housing stipend for out-of-town students is also available.
The cost for this course is a flat $300 fee. Students are required to arrive in Dillingham May 5 and depart May 14, 2022.
