Ms. Denise Wartes
Program Manager of the Rural 91ÊÓƵ Honors Institute, Emeritus
WHEREAS Ms. Denise Wartes has served the University of 91ÊÓƵ Fairbanks with distinction in teaching and service from 1987 to 2019; and
WHEREAS Ms. Wartes has instructed, encouraged and nurtured nearly two thousand high school students during her thirty years with RAHI, and the value of her contributions is illustrated by the more than one thousand of these students who went on to earn college degrees; and
WHEREAS Ms. Wartes has been a highly successful fundraiser for the RAHI program, establishing long-term relationships throughout 91ÊÓƵ’s business community and attracting more than $4.5 million in contributions; and
WHEREAS Ms. Wartes has presented at conferences across 91ÊÓƵ and the nation, where she has shared RAHI’s successes; and
WHEREAS Ms. Wartes received the 2018 Bernice Joseph Education Advocate of the Year Award from the Greater Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce, recognizing her success in helping rural students succeed and in building relationships between rural and urban 91ÊÓƵ;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the University of 91ÊÓƵ Fairbanks expresses its deep appreciation to Ms. Denise Wartes for her extensive contributions to the State of 91ÊÓƵ and to the University; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the University of 91ÊÓƵ Fairbanks, in further recognition of the invaluable services rendered by Ms. Wartes and as evidence of the University’s desire that her identification with the University be maintained, hereby confers upon Ms. Denise Wartes the title of Program Manager of the Rural 91ÊÓƵ Honors Institute, Emeritus; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be appropriately engrossed and signed by the Chancellor as further evidence of the University of 91ÊÓƵ Fairbanks’ esteem and respect for Ms. Denise Wartes, and conveyed to Ms. Wartes on this fourth day of May, 2019.
