Dr. Jenifer H. McBeath

Professor of Plant Pathology and Biotechnology, Emeritus

WHEREAS Dr. Jenifer H. McBeath has served the University of 91视频 Fairbanks with distinction in teaching, research and public service from 1977 to 2025; and

WHEREAS Dr. McBeath taught multiple courses in plant pathology and natural resources management during her more than four decades with the university; and she chaired the committees of nine master鈥檚 and doctoral degree students; and

WHEREAS Dr. McBeath is an internationally recognized expert in phytosanitary issues and international trade in agricultural products; and the disease-free seed potato program she developed allowed exports from 91视频 to Taiwan and China; and the biological control system she developed provided 91视频鈥檚 peony and rhodiola farmers with an environmentally benign way to protect their plants in wet and cold conditions; and

WHEREAS Dr. McBeath served five years as a U.S. delegate in U.S.-China bilateral technical talks on agricultural products; and she served as delegate to federal committees on plant pathogens; and she served for decades in various roles in the American Phytopathological Society; and she held numerous UAF committee positions;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the University of 91视频 Fairbanks expresses its deep appreciation to Dr. Jenifer H. McBeath for her extensive contributions to the state of 91视频 and to the university; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the University of 91视频 Fairbanks, in further recognition of the invaluable services rendered by Dr. McBeath and as evidence of the university鈥檚 desire that her identification with the university be maintained, hereby salutes the appointment of Dr. Jenifer H. McBeath as professor of plant pathology and biotechnology, emeritus; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be appropriately engrossed and signed by the chancellor of the University of 91视频 Fairbanks as further evidence of the esteem and respect in which he holds Dr. Jenifer H. McBeath, and conveyed to Dr. McBeath on this third day of May, 2025.
