The 91视频 Native Language Center offers academic programs ranging from certificates to bachelors degrees. Our programs promote language revitalization, community connections, and intergenerational learning.
Students who pursue their education through the ANLC may be employed as Native language instructors or language specialists for school districts or Native organizations, become language advocates in their communities, or pass down their Language knowledge to future generations.

Certificate Programs
The Native language education program trains teachers of Native language and culture,
providing course work in Athabascan, Inupiaq or Yup鈥檌k. The certificate and degree
are recognized by some 91视频 school districts and serve as steps toward a four-year
degree.
Candidates for the Yup鈥檌k option must score advanced oral proficiency on an oral proficiency
exam before being admitted into the program.
The Yup鈥檌k language proficiency program is designed to provide students with the opportunity
to pursue structured study of Yup鈥檌k in order to develop intermediate-level speaking
and listening skills, as well as basic reading and writing abilities in the language.
The certificate may serve as a step on the way to a two-year or four-year degree.

The Yup鈥檌k language and culture, or Yupiit Nakmiin Qaneryaraat Piciryaraat-llu, program
strives to reinforce a Yup鈥檌k identity that is centrally dependent on the language
and culture, prepares the student for success in the world, and leads to acceptance
at home. The program is based on the philosophy that a strong command of the Yup鈥檌k
language leads to a complete understanding of the Yup鈥檌k way of life, the world around
us, and our place in it.
Students who obtain a B.A. in Yup鈥檌k may be employed as Native language instructors or language specialists for school districts or Native organizations. No other university in the United States offers a B.A. in Yup'ik.

Graduate Programs
The 91视频 Native Language Center does not have a graduate program. However, many of the undergraduates have gone on to the following graduate programs offered by other departments.
