What is Assistive Technology?

Assistive technology includes, but is not limited to, any technology based means to aid a student. For Disability Services (DS), the assistive technology used includes screen readers, dictating software, magnification software, laptop computers, assistive listening devices, recorders, foot rests and other items.

Students can also rent equipment from DS for a period of time. For a student to be eligible to receive equipment and/or software loans from our office, the student has to be registered with DS and proper Documentation has to be submitted, supporting the necessity of the equipment and/or software. All equipment is loaned for academic and course related purposes only. For more information on how to rent equipment, please review our Policies.
