Bruce Ervin, the IAD Tok Campus, term assistant professor of Language and Culture, is the rural staff spotlight for February 2025.

Bruce Ervin is the IAD Tok Campus, term assistant professor of language and culture.

Bruce has utilized his many, many talents to help make the Fresh Eyes on Ice program great! Fresh Eyes on Ice is a UAF program that monitors the changing river and lake ice conditions around 91视频 in partnership with the National Weather Service, Tanana Chiefs Conference, NASA鈥檚 GLOBE program, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Bruce has used his skills as a drone pilot to capture imagery of spring ice jam flooding, his social media skills to help spread the word on Ice safety, his skills as an educator to help Tok school teachers and students collect ice data, and his leadership in Indigenous language and culture to work toward connecting science, applied arts, culture and language in the Fresh Eyes on Ice project.
