Week鈥檚 events: Wendy Dominique, liveability, longevity, jazz

University of 91视频 Fairbanks Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting more than 40 free lectures, concerts and events this summer. 

Here鈥檚 what鈥檚 happening during the week of Aug. 5-11:

  • On Monday, Aug. 5, the Fairbanks Tall Timbers interview series honors Wendy Dominique, who served 17 years on the Fairbanks North Star Borough School Board. The interview is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater, located on the fourth floor of the Usibelli Building.
  • On Tuesday, Aug. 6, the Healthy Living lecture series will host Beth Gray, project manager for the Fairbanks Senior Center鈥檚 Aging and Disability Resource Center. She will discuss, 鈥淔airbanks as We Age: Pieces of the Liveability Pie.鈥 The talk is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
  • On Wednesday, Aug. 7, the Discover 91视频 lecture series will feature Greg Breed, associate professor of quantitative ecology at the Institute of Arctic Biology, discussing 鈥淟ongevity and Senescence: Are Maximum Lifespans of Whales Longer Than We Believe?鈥 The lecture is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
  • On Thursday, Aug. 8, the Music in the Garden concert series will feature Headbolt Heaters at 6 p.m. and the Fairbanks Community Jazz Band at 7:30 p.m. at the Georgeson Botanical Garden.

All events are free and open to the public. Parking on the UAF Troth Yeddha鈥 Campus is free after 5 p.m.
